Legacy: Tahnee was the baby of four children and the only one not born in Utah. She was very family oriented and loved to spend time with her nephew, Keagan. People of the community loved Tahnee and showed it in unity when she was lost.
From the start she was very smart and very opinionated. She showed signs of becoming a social butterfly once she got in school. As a child, she participated in youth sports-t-ball, basketball, soccer. She also liked skiing.
By ninth grade she had transformed into a tall, beautiful, young lady. Tahnee was a gifted athlete, participating in Varsity volleyball, basketball and track. Some of last high school accomplishments were Western North Carolina All-Star Blue and White Team, the National Indigenous Games (Basketball) in Canada and State Runner-up for the discus. She received the President’s academic award. Tahnee was also the first Cherokee High School Homecoming Queen and Prom Queen in the newly built school system.
Tahnee helped coach girls youth league basketball for several years, travel league and community. She also participated in adult league basketball and various other sports related activities.
Early on Tahnee knew she wanted to work with kids and become a Special Needs teacher. After graduation, she worked at Dora Reed Child Care Center. She also went to school part time at Southwestern Community College. By the end of spring semester 2014, she had earned enough credits to become a lead teacher at Dora Reed. Unfortunately, she never got to teach in her own classroom.
Tahnee was 21 when she was taken from us. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Tahnee was a loving and compassionate young lady. She had a huge heart and loved children. Tahnee impacted many people she met by her charisma, magnetic personality and unforgettable smile.
She was one of my best friends, definitely one of a kind. Beautiful smile, beautiful person, and just amazing! I miss her so much everyday & so blessed to have her in my life.
